Associate Dean for Library Services Named

AHEAD Steering Committee Member, and Membership subcommittee chair, Patricia Thibodeau, MLS, MBA, Associate Dean for Medical Center Library Services and Archives, will be retiring effective March 31, 2017. Throughout her career, Pat has focused on the integration of technologies into information services and resources and the teaching of information management skills to students and health professions. She has been a member of the Medical Library Association (MLA) and the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) boards of directors, and served as president of the MLA and the AAHSL. In 2005, the MLA awarded Pat the President’s Award for her work in scholarly communication. In 2015, she received Duke University’s Meritorious Service Award. Pat and her team have positioned the medical library as one of the best in the country.

Yesterday, Vice Dean of Education of the School of Medicine, Dr. Buckley announced that after a national search AHEAD Steering Committee member Megan von Isenburg, MSLS, AHIP, Associate Director for Research and Education for the Duke Medical Center Library and Archives, will be the next Associate Dean. Megan has 13 years of experience serving in numerous positions at Duke. In her current position, she developed and taught classes, co-authored systematic reviews of the literature, and co-directed evidence-based medicine courses for medical students and continuing medical education. Megan brings a clear understanding and vision of the role medical libraries will play in the future.
