Duke AHEAD offers many opportunities for engagement.  For those who participate and contribute regularly, we would like to offer verbiage that can be used on a CV to convey the type of your involvement. Your membership level reflects your involvement in Duke AHEAD over a 12-month academic calendar year. Although membership designations using the engagement terminology below is by self-report, administrators can request confirmation of membership designations by contacting DukeAHEAD@duke.edu.

Education Day breakout sessions present the opportunity for our health professions educators to examine broad HPE topics from a variety of perspectives which result in rich conversation among our diverse professions. Education Day will celebrate 10 years of Duke AHEAD and the many contributions of our health professions educators in contributing to the missions listed below.

Duke AHEAD is  excited to announce our call for poster abstracts for our 11^th annual Education Day on 3/28/2025.  We invite you to submit using the guidelines below. 

Duke AHEAD’s Leadership for Educators Accelerator Program (LEAP) is now accepting applications for the spring ’25 cohort.

As part of our efforts to support the vision, creativity, ingenuity, and scholarly work of educators and educational researchers, we are pleased to offer project funding for members of Duke AHEAD. This competitive funding mechanism is intended to provide critical start-up funds for pilot research or funding for innovative projects that will generate new evidence, new ideas, and/or new approaches for improving health professions education. We will prioritize projects that are innovative and that illustrate the potential to positively transform the educational experience of learners and/or the learning environment in Duke Health.

Duke AHEAD is now accepting applications for Distinguished Members. 

The Duke AHEAD Distinguished Member level recognizes Duke Health educators who have demonstrated consistent, sustained and on-going contributions to health professions education.  The purpose of the Distinguished Member level is to:

Introducing the next wave of Duke AHEAD support for our health professions educators.  ASPIRE (Achievement, Scholarship, Perseverance, Innovation, Resilience, Excellence) funds are available for our members for individual growth and faculty development as well as for interprofessional teams to promote wellness during this ever-changing landscape.

Duke AHEAD is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Rebecca Sadun as our new associate director!  Dr. Sadun is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and has been an active member of Duke AHEAD since its inception in 2014.  She is a graduate of Duke AHEAD’s Health Professions Education Certificate Program and was an inaugural mentor for Duke AHEAD’s mentorship program. We are excited to offer an opportunity for faculty who are interested in health professions education as a career to apply for the 2024-2025 cohort of the Certificate in Health Professions Education & Teaching program.  

Duke AHEAD is now accepting nominations for the Interprofessional Education Team Excellence award, which honors teams for extraordinary accomplishments and service in interprofessional education and care.  

The review committee members along with the Associate Dean of Duke AHEAD (Dr. Diana McNeill) will determine the recipients of these awards.
