Medicaid Transformation and efforts by other payers to offer integrated medical/behavioral health care models challenges primary care providers to manage behavioral health disorders with great efficiency in an environment where psychiatrists remain in extremely short supply. The Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) is an evidence-based model wherein primary care practices work with designated care managers and consulting psychiatrists to assist primary care practices in managing these conditions.
