DUSON's Institute for Educational Excellence to Launch Book Club

Share

You are cordially invited to join the first ever Book Club being sponsored by DUSON’s Institute for Educational Excellence!

As you might imagine, the focus of the Book Club will be education, pedagogy, and teaching practices.  And this year, we will focus our once-a-month discussions on the material presented in the following excellent and resource-rich text:

How Learning Works: 7 Research-based Principles for Smart Teaching

by Ambrose, Bridges, DiPietro, Lovett, Norman, and Mayer

The Institute for Educational Excellence has agreed to purchase copies of the book for all those who will commit to participating in at least 75% of the sessions, and we hope you’ll be part of our group.

For the fall, we will meet the second Thursday of the month from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm in the School of Nursing building.  The dates for those monthly meetings are as follows:

September 8th

October 13th**

November 10th

December 8th

If you would like to participate, please complete this brief Qualtrics survey –no later than August 22nd – to confirm your commitment and ensure that a book is ordered for you.

**In addition to the Book Club, the IEE will be bringing in an internationally-known education scholar, Dr. Karen Morin,  to speak about Evidence-Based Teaching Practices.  This special session will take place on Thursday, October 13th from 11:00 am-12:00 pm in the Clipp Building, room 1017.  We invite all to attend, regardless of your ability to join the Book Club.
