Duke AHEAD is excited to announce the recipients of the 3rd annual Interprofessional Excellence Award for professionals and staff. Congratulations to Kathy Andolsek, MD, MPH and Poonam Sharma, MD.
From Dr. Andolsek's nomination: "Dr. Andolsek has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to inclusion, collaboration and excellence for all healthcare professional learners throughout her distinguished career. She is a pillar of excellence and true role model within our community here on campus."
From Dr. Sharma's nomination: Dr. Sharma brought together a group of interprofessional faculty to discuss creating an interprofessional noon conference at DRH. After she led us in a discussion of the benefits and challenges to such a schedule, we all caught her enthusiasm and decided to pursue and implement such a program. We successfully implemented the interprofessional noon conference. Dr. Sharma has been able to bring in health disciplines from a variety of areas (MD, Pharmacy, PA, PT/OT, RN, palliative care, respiratory) to educate
our learners.
