Junior faculty members are often faced with the critical challenge of jump-starting their careers at the same time that family/childcare obligations are least flexible. In recognition of this challenge, the School of Medicine is pleased to support the Faculty Flex Voucher Program. Faculty Flex Vouchers are designed to be used in a wide variety of ways by connecting junior faculty members with high quality academic services that facilitate their engagement in scholarly work. Vouchers can be used for institutional services available through the Duke Office of Clinical Research (DOCR), the Medical Communications group at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), and the Medical Center Library.
Vouchers will be awarded for services up to $2,500. Faculty must meet with the desired service provider prior to submitting their application to discuss the proposed project.
Eligibility:
Faculty Flex Vouchers are available to regular rank School of Medicine faculty and medical instructors in the basic and clinical sciences who are within the first 10 years of their faculty appointment and who do not have tenure. All faculty members who meet this criteria and feel they would benefit from this additional support are welcome to apply, however, proposals from faculty with acute work-life balance obstacles will be given special consideration.
Important Dates:
Applications Open: September 2016
Deadline for pre-application meetings with service providers: October 28, 2016
Applications Close: November 4, 2016
