Applications Now Accepted for 2020 - 2021 Certificate Program in Health Professions Education & Teaching

We are excited to offer an opportunity for faculty who are interested in health professions education as a career to apply for the 2020 cohort of the Certificate in Health Professions Education & Teaching program. 

This 12-month program will allow up to 12 faculty, professional staff, or fellows from the School of Nursing, Physical Therapy Program, Physician Assistant Programs, School of Medicine, Duke University Health System, and Professors of the Practice of Medical Education to participate.

The objectives of the program include:

2020 Duke IPEC/AHEAD Grant Funding Available

Letter of Intent Due: Dec 20, 2019 (12:00 pm)

Full Proposal Due: Feb 10, 2020 (12:00 pm) 

Background: Duke AHEAD and the new Duke Health Center for Interprofessional Education and Care (IPEC) are pleased to join forces to offer grant funding for Duke faculty and affiliated health professionals engaged in education program development for students enrolled in profession specific degree programs at the Schools of Medicine and Nursing—this includes Doctor of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Doctor of Medicine, and Nursing (ABSN, MSN, DNP).

2020 DASHE Funding Now Available

Health Professions Educators are often lacking resources needed to advance educational research and scholarship. In recognition of this challenge, we are proud to announce the Duke AHEAD Supports Health Professions Educators (DASHE) program. DASHE Vouchers are designed to be used in a wide variety of ways by connecting our educators with high quality academic services that facilitate their engagement in scholarly work.

2019 AHEAD Grant Funding Available

Background: We are pleased to offer project funding for members of Duke AHEAD. This funding mechanism is intended to provide critical start up for pilot research or funding for innovative projects that will generate new evidence, new ideas, and/or new approaches for improving health professions education. Our purpose is to support the vision, creativity, ingenuity, and scholarly works of the educators and educational researchers in the Duke AHEAD community.

Now in it's fourth year, this 12-month program will allow up to 10 faculty, professional staff, or fellows from the School of Nursing, Physical Therapy Program, Physician Assistant Programs, School of Medicine, Duke University Health System, and Professors of the Practice of Medical Education to participate.

Evidence Based Medicine Workshop Scholarships Available

Three scholarships are available for the nationally-recognized “Teaching and Leading Evidence-Based Medicine” Workshop, which will be held at Duke Medicine from April 2nd – April 5th, 2019. These scholarships are reserved for residents, fellows, and faculty who can bring Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) back to Duke academic and residency programs. The workshop focuses not only on practicing EBM, but also on teaching EBM, making it an ideal educational opportunity for rising chief residents or faculty involved in teaching residents and/or students.
