Practical Tools for Cultivating an Inclusive Culture in Health Professions Education: A Regional Event

Duke AHEAD, DUSON IEE, Duke AHEC and Duke IPEC Center are excited to announce our first ever regional event, "Practical Tools for Cultivating an Inclusive Culture in Health Professions Education on April 1, 2022.. This program does include a poster session and we invite abstract submissions using the guidelines below. 

Fall 2021 DASHE Recipients

Congratulations to our Fall 2021 DASHE recipients.  Health Professions Educators are often lacking resources needed to advance educational research and scholarship. In recognition of this challenge, Duke AHEAD offers the Duke AHEAD Supports Health Professions Educators (DASHE) program. DASHE Vouchers are designed to be used in a wide variety of ways by connecting our educators with high quality academic services that facilitate their engagement in scholarly work.  This fall, we were privileged to award over $20,000 in services to 9 of our members. 

Applications Now Being Accepted for Certificate in Health Professions Education & Teaching Program

We are excited to offer an opportunity for faculty who are interested in health professions education as a career to apply for the 2021-2022 cohort of the Certificate in Health Professions Education & Teaching program.  

This hybrid (in-person & virtual) 12-month program will allow up to 12 faculty, professional staff, or fellows from the School of Nursing, Physical Therapy Program, Physician Assistant Programs, School of Medicine, Duke University Health System, and Professors of the Practice of Medical Education to participate.

Registration is now open for 2021 Education Day!  Join us virtually on March 12, 2021 from 9:00 am - 1:15 pm. This year's theme is "The COVID Effect: Teaching, Leading & Caring During Challenging Times."  Dr. Viviana Martinez-Bianchi is our keynote speaker.  Next, attendees will choose two interactive breakout sessions to attend, and we'll conclude the day with Reflections & Ruminations: Personal narratives from providers, students, and educators from the past year.

The Interprofessional Education Advanced Certificate Program, sponsored by Duke AHEAD and the Duke Health Interprofessional Education and Care (IPEC) Center, is a yearlong professional development program that prepares health professions educators to develop, deploy and evaluate interprofessional educational activities in the context of learning about, from, and with educators from other professions. The educational activities should also account for diversity, equity, and inclusion in all stages of design and delivery. Educational activities may target health professions learners (e.g.

Duke AHEAD is thrilled to announce the participants chosen for the 2020-2021 Duke AHEAD Certificate in Health Professions Education & Teaching program.  This year's application pool was extremely competitive and 13 participants were selected to complete the 12 month program and project:
