Scholarships Available for Nationally-Recognized Teaching and Leading Evidenced-Based Medicine Workshop

Three scholarships are available for the nationally-recognized “Teaching and Leading Evidence-Based Medicine” Workshop, which will be held at Duke Medicine from April 24-27, 2018. These scholarships are reserved for residents, fellows, and faculty who can bring Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) back to Duke academic and residency programs. The workshop focuses not only on practicing EBM, but also on teaching EBM, making it an ideal educational opportunity for rising chief residents or faculty involved in teaching residents and/or students. 

Call for Oral Abstracts, Narrative Medicine, Workshops, Symposia, Special Interest Groups

ACH will host its co-located ENRICH Communication Course and Research Forum at the Hilton Downtown in Tampa, FL. These programs bring together 200+ healthcare professionals to engage in intensive communication training or to hear the latest research and teaching methods in the field of healthcare communication. The ENRICH course and the Research Forum are two separate programs (see descriptions below for each).

Interprofessional Education Excellence Awards Announced

Duke AHEAD distinguished members and steering committee members Anne Derouin and Elizabeth Ross were recently announced as the 2017 recipients of the Interprofessional Education Excellence awards.  These awards honor individuals who have demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm, competence, and innovation in promoting IPE in teaching, scholarly work, and/or clinical education. Members Join Panel Discussion at the "Future of Online Education at Duke" Event

Members Michael Zychowicz and Len White were recently invited to be panelists at The Future of Online Education at Duke as part of the Next Ed initiative. The panel discussion revolved around online education and it's evolution at Duke: where we've been, what's changed and what we think is coming in the future. The panel featured Duke faculty and administrators with experience teaching online courses and developing online programs.

AHEAD Members Selected as Fellows for 2018 Duke Clinical Leadership Program

Several of our members were recently chosen as fellows for the 2018 Duke Clinical Leadership Program. The DCLP is the Chancellor's leadership program for mid-career clinical faculty who are recognized by their peers as having the potential to assume larger roles and additional responsibilities.  Seven classes of fellows have previously graduated and many have gone on to assume leadership positions throughout Duke Health. Duke has purchased a subscription for you (or the preceptors at your practice) to a web resource, TeachingPhysician.org.  The site offers videos, tips, answers to frequently asked questions, and links to in-depth information on precepting topics, such as:
