Duke AHEAD to Sponsor Members for AAMC LEAD Program

Duke AHEAD is proud to announce that through the DASHE (Duke AHEAD Supporting Health Professions Educators), funding is available for two of our members to participate in the AAMC LEAD Certificate program.  We have a very brief application that you’ll need to fill out below.  The Deadline for this application is December 21 and applicants will be notified 1/2/19.  The application for the LEAD program is due January 18, 2019. We hope that you will consider applying!

Duke AHEAD Launches Repository

Duke AHEAD is excited to announce the launch of our repository.  Members are asked to upload their own works related to Duke AHEAD.  Assistance will be available at future Duke AHEAD offerings (before and after lunch & learn sessions and other events) or email dukeahead@dm.duke.edu with questions.

Duke AHEAD is excited to announce the recipients  of the 3rd annual Interprofessional Excellence Award for professionals and staff. Congratulations to Kathy Andolsek, MD, MPH and Poonam Sharma, MD.

Brenda Armstrong, MD, renowned pediatric cardiologist and community hero, dies

Whether coaching Durham Striders student athletes on the track field, caring for her patients, or recruiting and mentoring Duke University medical students, Brenda Armstrong, MD, was passionate about people, especially young people, and she committed her life to helping ensure every person was valued, treated with respect, and offered opportunities to learn and prosper.

2018 Duke AHEAD Grant Recipients

Steering Committee Member Heads to Capitol Hill

AHEAD Steering Committee member and PA Program director, Dr. Jacqui Barnett recently made a trip to Capitol Hill as part of a panel to update congressional staff on the National Health Service Corps' (NHSC) impact on PA students.  “The congressional briefing provided a wonderful opportunity to serve the PA profession and to sit alongside passionate leaders to advocate for funding that is so critical to fulfilling a basic human need: access to health care.

AHEAD Member Renewals

General membership renewals are set to begin soon for those members that joined two years ago.  At that time you'll be asked to review and update your information on file and to fill out a self-assessment.  If you'd prefer to get a head start on the renewal process, you may begin filling out the self-assessment here (link is external).  Your renewal packet may not be considered complete without this information.  Renewals are good for two years.
